Time...and time again...Here's the thing about this writing business. It takes time. Well, hell, what doesn't? Everything takes time. It just seems that writing takes TIME. Lots of it. All your time. Writing becomes all consuming.
I'm of the opinion that nothing should really be all consuming -- a well-rounded person does more than sit at a computer and type. But I'm a writer. So...I sit at the computer and type. My hobbies? Sitting at the computer and typing. My work? The same. :)
Reading...a hobby...in the end becomes about writing. So does watching movies. So does interacting with family. So does SEX!!!! It all circles around, somehow, into a story, some dialogue, a bit of plot.
I'm not saying being a writer is the hardest job in the world, or anything. I mean, honestly, sitting around in sweats all day drinking Coca Cola Zero and making up a bunch of stuff is a pretty sweet gig.
I'm just saying that writing, and being a writer, is more than something you do. It's something you are. It's an all encompassing, all consuming, all all all, the all-iest of alls there ever were.
And I guess I wouldn't change that for anything.
